✲ Milletype Foundry, nouvelle fonderie digitale, 2023-24.

Milletype est une fonderie digitale française créée par Romain Marc et moi-même, produisant des caractères à la fois pour la vente et également sur mesure. Tous les deux passionnés par le dessin de caractères et après deux années passées en France en tant que camarades de classe, nous avons choisi les Pays-Bas pour apprendre le dessin de caractères lors d'un stage de 5 mois à Letterspace Amsterdam, dirigé par Edgar Walthert, Jolana Sýkorová et Sabina Kipara. C'est à travers un désir de création commun que nous avons décidé d'unir nos compétences pour créer des caractères originaux ayant pour but de servir d'outils aux designers.
À l'heure actuelle, nous avons trois typographies en présentation MF Corinthe, MF Minazuki et MF Beach Club, ces deux premières typographies sont toutes les deux issues de notre volonté de vouloir produire chacun une typographie lors de notre stage. MF Corinthe, une typographie taillée dans le marbre par Romain Marc, ses grands empattements géométriques contrastent avec ses formes amplement arrondies. MF Minazuki est une typographie que j'ai fait germé, ses formes à la fois acérées et arrondies lui donnent autant de caractère que de douceur. MF Beach Club est, elle, l'emblème de la fonderie, c'est la première typographie réalisée en commun. Mélangeant un dessin avec et sans sérif avec le principe du pochoir, son dessin est chaleureux et nous invite à se prélasser sur la plage.

✲ Milletype Foundry, new digital foundry, 2023-24.

Milletype is a French digital type foundry created by Romain Marc and myself, producing typefaces both retail and bespoke typefaces. Both passionate about type design, and after spending two years in France as classmates, we chose the Netherlands to learn type design during a 5-month internship at Letterspace Amsterdam, run by Edgar Walthert, Jolana Sýkorová and Sabina Kipara. It was through a shared desire to create that we decided to combine our skills to create original typefaces to be used as tools by designers.
We currently have three typefaces on display, MF Corinthe, MF Minazuki and MF Beach Club, the first two grew out of our desire to each produce a typeface during our internship. MF Corinthe is a typeface carved out of marble by Romain Marc, its large geometric serifs contrasting with its amply rounded forms. MF Minazuki is a typeface I developed myself, its sharp yet rounded shapes giving it both character and softness. MF Beach Club is the emblem of the foundry, and the first typeface to be produced together. Mixing a design with and without a serif with the principle of stencil, its design is warm and invites us to relax on the beach.
